Sun, 27 November 2005 We wrapped up a great long thanksgiving weekend with a podcast. Jessica has final exams next week and opted out to study for them. So Joanne, Josh, Emily and I did this one. Mon, 10 October 2005 We did this one at our beach house where we spent a rainy Columbus Day weeekend.
The acoustics aren't great at the beach house and the kids were suffering a bit from cabin fever so there's a bit of wackiness in this one. The podcast ends with back to back Flaming Lips songs which is always a good thing.
WARNING - there are a few shouts and loud moments in this podcast. If you are listening with earplugs or headphones, you may want to keep the volume lower than normal.
Here's the song list:
Joanne's Song - Love Grows - Edison Lighthouse (from Little Manhattan soundtrack),

Sun, 25 September 2005 The Gotham Gal and I were supposed to do this one from Austin, TX at the Austin City Limits music festival.
We didn't go because of Rita, which turned out to be not much of an issue for Austin, but we did go out east to Long Island instead and had a nice weekend just the Gotham Gal and me.
The kids didn't participate in this podcast because they weren't planning to do one this week with us in Austin and had no songs lined up. They'll be back next week with some new music hopefully.
This podcast was heavily influenced by the Rhett Miller show we saw at Stephen Talkhouse last night and has three songs on it that came out of that show.
We also talked a bit about movies (don't go see Constant Gardener) and emerging artists.
Here's the song list:
Joanne's Song - Question - Old 97's,
Joanne's Song - Can't Help Falling In Love - The Eels,

|
Sun, 18 September 2005 We did this one while watching the Jets beat the Fish (Dolphins) in our family room. We had the game on mute, but you can hear a few shouts of excitement from the Jets fans.
We also reviewed three movies (Just Like Heaven, Proof, and Corpse Bride) and talked a bunch about the Rolling Stones concert from last thursday night.
We also did two "double shots" on this podcast from the Rolling Stones (predictably) and M. Ward.

Josh's Song - Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones |
Sun, 11 September 2005 We have a new podcasting studio. We moved the podcast from our kitchen to the family room at Jackson's suggestion. We are hoping for better acoustics. We also added a third microphone to the mix which Josh took from his band's equipment. Let me know if you think the acoustics are better.
Topics of conversation include the Coldplay, Bloc Party, and Rolling Stones concerts. We also talked about some art openings, the Kitchen Confidential tv show, and other goings on in NYC.

Josh's Song- Satisfaction - Rolling Stones,
Emily's Song - Better Together - Jack Johnson,

Fred's Song - Time Bomb - Goldspot |
Mon, 5 September 2005 This podcast proves that we are much better and funnier with the kids than without them.

Sun, 21 August 2005 The kids are back and made an instant impact on the attitude of the podcast.
Other than the fact that I still can't figure out how to get the sound right even with two microphones, it's a great podcast.
Topics of conversation this week include summer camp, some new music, and color war.
Song List:
Emily's Song - Good Riddance - Green Day,
Jessica's Song - Banana Pancakes - Jack Johnson,
Josh's Song - eBay - Weird Al Yankovic,
Fred's Song - Busting Up A Starbucks - Mike Doughty,

Sun, 14 August 2005 We tried something new this week.
We went with two microphones, one for The Gotham Gal and one for Fred.
Somehow we didn't get the dials straight because The Gotham Gal still sounds much louder than Fred.
But we'll get that fixed next week.

Sun, 17 July 2005 The Gotham Gal and I feel that this one wasn't one of our best shows.
We were rushed and the audio levels on the talk portion are a bit out of whack.

Sweet Home Alabama - Jewel,

Sat, 25 June 2005 The kids left for camp today but not without leaving a few songs for the podcast.
Actually, we were supposed to do this podcast last night as a final family project before our 2 month separation.
But in the craziness that precedes their departure for camp, we forgot to do the podcast.
So the Gotham Gal and Fred did this one solo. Which is the format for the next 7 weeks.
We talked about putting the kids on the bus, what we are going to do in all of our spare time, lazy summer afternoons, and lots more.

Joanne's Song - Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Fred's Song - Love and Mercy - Jeff Tweedy
Emily's Song (by consensus) - Let There Be Love - Oasis
|
Sat, 4 June 2005 I think we've finally mastered the production part of this. The blends between talk and music are good and the volume seems fine for both too.
This week the topics of conversation are girls street basketball on the lower east side, how the star wars movie and josh's baseball game were similar, the upcoming keane and killers concerts, and Joanne's move to a Mac and our favorite podcasts.
The music is great too:

Joanne - The Mountain Goats - This Year

Sat, 14 May 2005 This is our first podcast.

Emily's Song - American Baby - Dave Matthews
Fred's Song - Ain't No Way - David Lindley

The girls were all out and Josh and his friend Ben and I were watching the Jets play (and ultimately lose to) the Bills. We decided to do this week's show with Ben as our guest. It was fun even though the Jets game was a bit of a downer.
Here's the song list:
Four Fellas Song - Shenna Is A Punk Rocker - The Ramones,
